Scripture calls elders to lead (1 Tim. 5:17), and that is not a call to simply navigate through storms and faithfully put out fires. The church is to defend the gospel and advance the gospel. We must be intentional about why we exist and should pursue that goal diligently.
Grow. Relate. Adore. Commit. Engage. As elders, these are five words we believe help articulate how we live out the doctrine we believe. This list isn’t inspired (so it may change down the road) but we do pray that it flows from the inspired Word of God.
“So that the manifold wisdom of God might now be made known through the church to the rulers and the authorities in the heavenly places.” – Eph. 3:10
A church that displays the glory of the gospel in such a way that the angels take note. Now that’s a vision I hope we can all get behind!
In October of 2011, we worked through a series on GRACE. You can listen to the audio and access documents by clicking here.

We strive to grow in the grace and knowledge of our Lord Jesus Christ (2 Peter 3:18). As God conforms us to the image of His Son (Romans 8:29-30), this inward change will manifest itself in visible ways. (Galatians 5:22-24)

Through the work of Jesus Christ, God has formed His church into a united group of people (1 Peter 2:9-10). We have been made fellow children of God (1 John 3:1-2), joined as members of one body to serve one another (Romans 12:3-8) and encourage our mutual faith (Hebrews 10:23-25).

The only appropriate response to the mercy given us through Jesus Christ is a life of worship (Romans 12:1). Through Christ, and in the Holy Spirit, we desire to worship in song, in our actions, and in gratitude (Colossians 3:15-17).

We acknowledge the Bible to be the very Word of God (2 Timothy 3:16-17), which God uses to sanctify His children (John 17:17) by revealing His Son (John 5:39). By God’s grace, we commit ourselves to not simply hearing the Word, but applying it by faith as well (James 1:22-25).

As God has reconciled us, He calls us to be His ministers of reconciliation (2 Corinthians 5:16-19). We are to go into all the world seeking to make disciples of Jesus Christ (Matthew 28:19-20). We seek to impact people for Christ both as individuals and as we establish more churches to be salt and light in a dying world (Matthew 5:13-14).
