This Week at GraceEvents and ministry opportunities this week at Grace

Men’s Training – Monday, 7:00-8:00pm (Canonicity: How did the books of the Bible become the books of the Bible?)

Elder Meeting – Monday, 8:30-10:30pm

Women’s Spring Study – Monday, 7:00-8:30pm

LIFEgroups – Tues, Wed, Thurs, Sun evenings (meet in homes around the area)

Elevate – Wednesday, 7:00-9:00pm (7th-12th grade youth)

Women’s Spring Study – Thursday, 9:30-11:00am

Men’s Training – *NEW FORMAT* : Our bi-weekly Men’s Training has taken on a new flavor and format. We still meet every other Monday @ 7pm, but instead of in the back rooms, we are in the auditorium. We have started into a new interactive study format that will explore the character of God, the role of the Trinity, the role of man, among many other ‘theological’ topics. Our desire is to get together and interact with God’s Word to learn more about who He is and why it matters that we even know! Would you consider joining us tomorrow night?

The Edge – The Edge (men’s monthly breakfast) will be meeting here at Grace for an 8am breakfast on March 3rd and to begin a three part series that will work through Stuart Scott’s book “Exemplary Husband”. Regardless of your past, present or future marital status, this study will be beneficial to your walk with Christ. All men are invited to attend, and encouraged to invite others that you work with or know that might benefit form this topic. We ask for a $5 dollar donation per man in attendance. If you need more details, contact the church office @ 547-0065 or men@greenvillegrace.org.

4:12 – Got a 5th or 6th grader that could stand to get out of the house for some good instruction and a healthy dose of non-digital ‘hang time’? Bring him or her to the church on Saturday, March 3rd at 2pm to participate in our 4:12 ministry (a great way to get them ready for future youth group involvement here at Grace). All 5th and 6th graders are invited to attend! (runs from 2-4pm)

Porterbrook (April class) – Okay…so you get that the Gospel is a personal thing. But how should it affect our walk as we gather collectively as the church? On April 21st at 7am, Grace is offering a class on just that! There are supplies that you will need and homework that you will need to do in advance, so we need to know by March 11th if you would like to join the class. To get more details and/or signup, please contact the church office @ 547-0065 or mailto:office@greenvillegrace.org and ask for Danny Wright. Cost for the class is $25.

Baptism – We are currently planning a baptism service in mid-late March. If you are being convicted to declare your salvation publicly through the obedience of baptism, please contact the office (or an elder). We would love to sit down and discuss your desire and how we can work together to make it a reality. The church office can be contacted at 547-0065 or office@greenvillegrace.org.

Volunteer Opportunity – We desire to do all things well and to the glory of God here at Grace. As the ministries, classes and events continue to multiply and grow in both numbers and reach, so do the administrative needs. If you might like to volunteer some time in this capacity here at Grace, please know that there is always room for the ‘behind the scenes’ work that takes place each week. Contact Marshall Gipe @ marshall@greenvillegrace.org to learn of ways that you might be able to serve the body here at Grace in this way.

Grace Connections (Clayton) – Please be in prayer for Grace Connections in Clayton, OH. They have been renting a building for several years and are in the process of looking for a more ’permanent’ facility. Pray that they have their leadership team has the discernment of the Holy Spirit through this potential transition. Pray that their ministry is ever deepening and broadening as they seek to reach the lost while equipping the called out among them.

Centerville Grace – Please be in prayer for Centerville Grace church as they seek to minister to the southern Dayton community. Pray that the hearts of those that call Centerville Grace their home would have a heart for the Gospel and to see it’s impact made real in their community. Pray for Dave Holmes as he desires to lead their body in a way that mimics Christ and His love for His bride.

On March 2-10, the Fourman Medical Team is taking a group from Grace, other area churches and students from Cedarville University to the Dominican Republic for a week long mission trip. While there, they will be providing medical/dental and construction services to the people of the Dominican Republic and most importantly, proclaiming the gospel of Jesus Christ.

While it is too late to get involved by going on this trip, it’s not too late to support their medical and missionary efforts. There are a number of ways you can support this trip, most importantly through prayer. Please be praying that God would be working in the lives of those that will be ministered to, that He would open hearts to hear the truth. Pray for those going that they would be willing servants of Jesus Christ and pray that all would be done to the glory of God!

The team will be taking much needed supplies with them and are asking for your help in obtaining them. The following are items that you can donate to support their efforts:

It was about three years ago that God opened my eyes to His gospel and I repented and placed my trust in Jesus Christ.

I was actually baptized around ten years ago as a teenager. At the time I was going through severe depression. The gospel I heard preached to me then was a life enhancing gospel. It was a message that was watered down in its content. The problem with this gospel was that it could not save me. It had only deceived me into thinking I was saved. Whether I realized it at the time or not, I was very works righteous. Inside I felt like a hypocrite because I could never be good enough.

It was three years ago when I listened to a sermon from a preacher on YouTube, talking about a God who was just and punished law breakers. I realized I had broken God’s law. The Bible says it is appointed unto man once to die, and then judgement (Heb. 9:27). I was aware that I would have to give an account to God for my sins. I also heard how this God who was both holy and just was also rich in mercy. He sent His very own Son, the God Man Jesus the Christ into the world. Jesus kept the laws that I broke and lived a life of obedience. He willingly sacrificed Himself on the cross and died to pay for my sins. The Bible says, “Greater love has no one than this, to lay down ones life for his friend” (John 15:13). God poured out His wrath on Jesus so it didn’t have to be poured out on me. Jesus not only died for my sins, but three days later rose again from the grave. The Bible says, “For our sake He made Him to be sin who knew no sin, so that in Him we might become the righteousness of God” (2 Cor. 5:21).

It was God’s kindness that led me to repentance.

Ephesians 2:8-9 says, “For by grace you have been saved through faith, and this not your own doing; it is the gift of God, not a result of works, so that no one may boast.” It was this gospel of grace that saved me. My sins were forgiven and God made me a new creature in Christ. That is why I am being baptized.
