Nilsen Update

Bob flies out tomorrow (Wednesday) for the States. His total time in layovers equals his total airtime = 7 hours 50 minutes! Please be in prayer for the connections, safety and his back (it doesn’t like airline seats.)

Friday he heads to Warsaw for his brother’s memorial on Saturday at 4PM. Please be in prayer for this time. Bob is happy (he says Jealous!) that Dennis is in Heaven, but obviously sad that he no longer has his brother here.

I will remain in the DR while he is gone. With the new apartment that the LORD has provided us, I feel comfortable with staying alone.

Thank you for your many emails and prayers!

Bob & Anna Nilsen

Greetings from Greensboro

Thank you all for your continued prayers.  God is answering – it is so obvious to us.  Everything went exceptionally well with our move here on July 5.  Most of our boxes are now empty!!  Many thanks to those in Murphy and Greensboro for your time and labor in helping us accomplish this MAJOR task.

We’re so very encouraged and thankful for the responses of many of you who are considering (relocating here or joining with us locally) being part of our Core Team.  Three families have already visited us here and others are scheduled to come for a visit before September.  We would LOVE to have a Core Team in place before Thanksgiving.  Our desire is for the entire Core Team to attend a “boot camp” together in preparation for the plant.  Boot camp is so valuable.  It’s not only a great strategizing and planning time; but it encourages cohesion and unity among the Core Team.

Prayers Answered

  • Great response from May letter for prayer partners for our ministry.
  • Many hands and servant hearts July 1-5 helped pack and load in Murphy, caravan across the state and unload in Reidsville.
  • House is wonderfully suited for all types of ministry events – especially overnight out-of-towners!
  • Pressure washer sold in Murphy.
  • We were able to purchase a 2nd car (much nicer than we hoped for!) – 2000 Buick-great condition.
  • House is being shown in Murphy
  • We have 50% of our monthly financial support

Church Plant Prayer Request

  • We are projecting an early September 2011 launch date.  This will come QUICKLY…
  • Proactive commitments from brothers and sisters to join Core Team.
  • We need to raise the final 50% of our financial support.

Pierce Personal Prayer Requests

  • Adjustments to living away from family in Murphy.
  • Both our mothers are having health problems
  • Elizabeth will be at Duke having a melanoma removed from her back in the next two weeks (consultation 7/23)

Thanks for loving us and caring about what God is doing here in the Greensboro area.  We are delighted that you are partnering with us.  We love hearing from you all.  Our cell service is terrible in the house and we have gotten a landline.  Our internet should be working here on 7/26 and we will be closing our office Oak Ridge McDonalds Café!  🙂  Please not our new info:

Praying for Dan & Jeni Berger

We want to continue to encourage the body to support the Berger family through prayer.  At this time, Dan’s surgery is scheduled for March 20th.  The date for his surgery could possibly move up, but as of right now, it has not.  Therefore, we’ve organized two ways to support the Berger family in prayer:

Concert of Prayer: We will be having a “Concert of Prayer” at Grace from 6:30 – 8:00pm on Tuesday evening, March 16th.  We invite you to come, and invite others who might know Dr. Berger, to join us for a season of praying for him and the family.  We will also spend time praying for others who are struggling through physical difficulties at this time.

Day of Prayer and Fasting: We would like to encourage those who are physically capable, to consider taking a day next week to pray and fast for the Lord’s work in the Berger’s lives.  If your schedule permits, we’re encouraging people to consider March 19th, the day before Dan’s surgery (currently March 20th).

As Elders, we encourage you to consult your doctor about whether you are physically capable of observing a fast.  If you have any questions about fasting, please contact the office for more information.  We also understand there are many others in the congregation who are struggling through disease, cancer and other heart breaking effects of the curse of sin.  We do not wish for these members to feel marginalized, but want you to know we are praying for you as well.  We feel this time of prayer is an excellent way for our Body to honor the time Dan spent serving our church as an elder.

to the praise of the glory of His grace!
